I decided I should switch from win98se to win2k pro at work. So I got a new hd and installed win2k. No problems there. Problem comes after I've got the whole thing setup. I have the network configured the same as every other win2k install I've done at work. Anyway, if I access the net, about a minute later the connection dies. The computer still is "connected" to the LAN, but I can't see anything, intranet or internet. The mouse also stutters when its moved. Also, the connection status shows 0 bits transmitted and/or received, which obviously isn't the case. Reboot, same thing.
This took place Monday and Tuesday. Today I fired up win2k but went off to do other othings. Came back two hours later and used the net for about 5-10 minutes before the network connection died.
I'm starting to think this might be a hardware problem since I've triple-checked the configuration. I'm probably going to reinstall windows and get a different network card.
Also, I should add that the same IP/DNS/Gateway/etc. config works fine in windows98se on the same machine, which is what I'm using now to post this. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
