Strange video glitch in HL2 and Guild Wars

Ok, im getting a video glitch in HL2 and Guild Wars, same exact problem, not gonna describe it cuz i got a small video here (1.8mb) that shows the problem:

Its always at the very top of the screen, USUALLY top left corner but not always, and if i try to take a screenshot of it it doesnt show up in the screenshot.

Specs:
AMD64 3000+ @ 2.4Ghz
GeForce 6800 GT Default Speeds, Drivers 71.20
ABit Kv8 Pro Mobo
1GB PC3200 DDR

Edit: the video has 4 sec of deadtime at the begining for some reason, wait 5sec for it to start

thats kinda goofy... where's your health, ammo and stuff? try newer drivers 71.24, after running nvidia's uninstall and then driver cleaner while in safe mode...

oh, and to make your 6800gt overclock, turn off fast writes... it worked for me!! how's your 3dmark2005 like on that system? Mine is very similar to yours, I can pull off 5300 marks with my gt @ just a little above ultra

Hmmm health and ammo prolly gone because i was messing around w/ hotkeys to try to get the video to work,

71.24 = Bad, yellow water from what i read

and how do you turn off fastwrites, tried in vcard properties but it turns right back on wheni push apply.

Tried disabling fast writes, no sucess, ram i can get to 1150+ (just stopped there because i didnt fell like stressing anymore) but GPU is stable a max of around 380, and artifacts / freezes at 390.

Still no clue about the weird HL2 error...

use rivatuner, and under the adapter customize button, first section(the one that looks like the card), theres a tab at the top for NVStrap... "install" that and force fw off...

use 71.20 for yellowless water... for me, many parts of the game have regular looking water... its no big deal for me, the drivers are good, that yellow water thing is worth it... i'm sure they'll fix it later on

no no, i got FW to turn off, disabled it in my BIOS, and i am using 71.20 already, still cant OC, still weird HL2 bug in the top corner.
