Strange USB Problem...

Hey guys, I recently got my laptop back from being repaired (had a faulty hard drive) and now everytime I insert a USB device such as my bluetooth adapter or phone, the message box saying "new hardware found" doesn't come up. Instead I have to go into Device Manager, right click on the unknown device and click "update driver".

This is a really annoying problem, does anyone know how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Since you had a faulty hard drive I assume you reinstalled windows. Have you installed all your windows updates which may include some usb 2.0 drivers?

Yeah all Windows updates have been installed. I've tried right clicking on each of the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in Device Manager and clicking Update Driver but it doesn't find any drivers for it.

I've downloaded some USB 2.0 drivers, should I install them and see if it fixes the problem?

Is this on battery or A/C power or both? Laptop USB ports oiften cannot handle the required power load from some devices - you may have to use a powered hub in some cases.
