Mod

-----------------------------------------------------------

Okay I'm level 16 now. The following is a potential spoiler so do not read unless you have at least started the main quest a bit. I am playing on the Xbox 360 also.

I AGONIZINGLY crawled through the rescue Kvatch quest (the part after the gate closes/Martin leaves). The creatures were so rediculously overpowered it was crazy. The three guards sent to help me were crushed after the first "battle." Then I had to creatively find ways to exploit the rest of my way through (fighting around walls to not get hit). A single monster was able to take 25% of my health away in a single hit while it took me 200+ hits to kill the monster. I should also add that the monster started in groups of five or more. So I basically found small exploits to finally beat the quest.

Flash forward to another quest. I was having the same problem with a vampire (don't worry I cured it) so I set the difficulty to lowest just to see the difference (and make it playable). Well killing a once unkillable monster in two weak swings was rediculously underpowered. I found a good two handed sword in the dungeon and then set the difficulty back to where it was (dead center). Now this sword does about five more damage than my previous sword (it's also a lot slower). However, I am still able to actually win arena battles and beat other dungeons. It is almost as if the difficulty is perfect now. I wonder if there is some glitch that set it to max difficulty at the beginning even though it read as middle. I know my sword does more damage, but we are talking fifty times more damage in each swing (fights take me 20 seconds or less). I am also wondering if it was the Blades armor and sword (which I used before because I found Ebony armor along with the sword). Perhaps this set of armor/sword is bugged into not actually giving any armor because the difference is just too great. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Apparently, you are supposed to level up a certain way in the game by taking advantage of multiplier bonuses when you sleep/apply point. I don't know if you did that, but if you are that weak, it might be the case. ;/

I stopped playing my mage and was meaning to reroll this weekend, but I just got a fresh batch of work I need to finish before I can play. Maybe someone else can add to this?

The monsters scale with your level. It makes it rather hard for non-combat type characters. I'm level 4 currently and I've installed the leveling mod so I'll need 5 times as many stats before reaching the next level. Hopefully this will keep my non-armor character playing longer, not sure yet.

I know they scale to my level, but it is weird how much of a difference the new armor and weapon made. The 16 damage 2hander destroys monsters while the 11 damage katana would take 2 minutes to kill. I seriously wonder if the Blade set of armor is bugged because before it was impossible to play the game without exploiting the terrain.

well the blade armour is level 1 armour.. not very good.. you can have this armour at level 1..

so yes it needed to be replaced at level 16...

I have none of these issues and breezed theough the battle of kvatch with an L10 assasin in light armour from the Dark Brotherhood.

3 hits with a stolen Akaveri katana and all monsters died.

now ive got a blades version of the same sword its 1 damage better than mine..
even better damage.

I am not yet L16, but I believe the armor type that L16 uses is dwarvin. It is the third tier from what I can tell. I can get certain peices of it at 13.

The game does scale and get more difficult I have found... But as long as your stay on top of it by repairing your weapons and armor (this is VERY important) you should still find the normal difficult attainable. You don't want to ruin this type of game by making it too easy... I know it is tempting, but if the game is a walk in the park, it doesn't bring you into it. You should have to quick save before you enter a new place...

Additionally, if you have plenty of heal potions the game is plenty easy. So far, I have only used healing potions one 2 - 3 fights total, and that is out of probably several hundred with 50 of them being very challenging.

where's all the good light armor? i've been playing a thief type character and all i ever find is heavy armor. i just recently found a full set of dwarven. if i actually tried to wear it, it would take up like half my encumbrance or more.

i think i need to find a better sword too. i'm using Chillrend (a short sword with frost dmg) and it seems to take awhile to kill enemies.

join the dark brotherhood.. best light armour and weps in the game before you get glass and higher But only if you get enchanting.. otherwise the dark brotherhood stuff is unbeatable.

I know you can get Blades armor at level one, but it still has decent armor rating (not that far less than ebony). Also, I still don't know what the deal with the Blades katana is because it literally took 200+ hits to kill and forced me to repair after every battle with repair hammers. Game is much better now with new weapon though.

I did the Kvatch Oblivion gate at about lvl 3 with fur/leather armour.
Yay for terrain exploits and sneak + bow + fireballs.
