Strange taste/odor?

I have a bad cold. Bad enough that I will be probably seeing the doctor tommorrow.

I'm 31 and never remember this happening before. I have a weird taste in my mouth and when I blow my nose, a strange smell.

Anyone know what this is?

An infection? It's wierd that I've never had this tsate/odor before. I think I might havea sinus infection, but that never came with smells/tastes.

Blood? Your nasal cavity could be irritated to the point of bleeding. If your snot has dark blue/red streaks/chunks, that's probably what it is. Mine does that when it gets really bad. When it drains I can sometimes taste the dried blood in the back of my throat, and I can definitely smell it when it's fresh.

It kinda does have the taste of blood to it. I haven't seen any red though.

I've been snooping around the web. It could be step throat. Earlier today, I was having thoughts that this might be strep.

I guess this is your first bout with strep? My sister got strep every 3 months for about a year and a half before having her tonsils removed. Talk about a painful pain in the ass. Good luck.

Actually strange smell/taste is a common symtom of a severe sinus infection although strep is possible as well ... if it doesn't clear up on its own in a day or two (at most) you'll need to see a doctor for antibiotics.
