Strange speed problem with router

Hi,

I have a TP-Link tl-wr1043nd flashed with dd-wrt that I use connected to my internet carrier router (configured as a modem) because this way I get more options and, at least in my experience, more stability.

I changed my consumer-grade 10/0.8 ADSL for a business-grade 120/12 cable connection with guaranteed bandwidth and I got 2 problems:

-I'm only getting 80/13 mbps, but that's something that the carries has to fix, not me.
-Connected to my router, with the carrier router (CBN CG6640E) configured as a modem, I'm getting a lame 0'6/7Mbps connection.

Do you have any clues about what could be happening?

What is the speed of a PC plugged in thru ethernet directly to the carrier's modem/router? If your TP-Link is connect as a wireless bridge, your only going to get the throughput of that connection. I get 53mps connected to my suppliers modem configured as a router and only 23mbs connected to my Linksys WRT54G with dd-wrt connect as a wireless bridge.

I'm connecting everything using cat5e cable, so it isn't a Wi-Fi problem

Then reset the cable company's router back to it's defaults. Connect a cable from one of the ethernet ports to the LAN port of the DD-WRT modem. Configure the DD-WRT by turning off DHCP and pointing to the Cable company router as the gateway. Point your PC's connected to the DD-WRT to the cable company router as the DNS server and the gateway.

Finally I had to go back to the stock firmware to make it work.

I'll try to turn-off the QoS and to put the modem as the gateway; I hope it works, because DD-WRT was much better than the original firmware.

Thanks

I assume you are getting 80/13mbps when you are connected to the ISP's modem and when your computers connected with your TP-Link router speed reduces. So I believe the firmware you flashed is the culprit.

Finally I had to go back to the stock firmware to make it work.
Now how is the speed ? I recommend you to follow this thread for tweaking your computer to improve the connection speed.

If still issue exist, you really need to consider changing firmware.

Yes, it was a firmware problem, which is a shame because I really liked DD-WRT.

Now I'm getting the full 80/13, but using TP-Link's firmware.
