Strange sound problem with TVTuner and SB Live 5.1

Well, I just bought a SB Live 5.1 to replace the crap SoundlessStorm on my A7N8X, and at first I couldn't get the audio to work at all on my tuner. Well, I figured out how to get it to work, although it's a bit of a workaround. I have to start my tvtuner, then go into the soundblasters AudioHQ, then, in the speakers section, in advance mode I then check and then uncheck Digital Output Only, and then my tvtuner will work. Anyone have any idea what is causing me to have to use this method of getting the tuner to work? I'd really appreciate if anyone has anything that might help resolve this.

Welcome to soundblaster. I've set up a bunch of systems with these sb5.1 platinum setups. Some are easy some are nuts. Trying to install one on a new mb now. Sb5.1 used to have problems with via chipsets. Update all drivers. Irq sharing can be a problem especially in dos mode. Soundblaster tries to use irq 10 as do a lot of vid cards(stupid). Try to force different irq's for vid card and sound.
I stopped using creative sound cards. Too difficult for most people and the sound difference isn't noticible for most people.
I started using $15.00 generic cards. Really simple. Plug em in, run the disk and forget em. Best of all 9, out of 10 audiophiles ears are't able to tell the difference
