This is a weird one.
When I set a game (this happens only in games so far) to use a resolution of 1024*768 or above (the higher the res, the worse it gets) the mouse starts reacting delayed. It's kinda like the mousepointer is being moved with a rubberband.
For testing purposes it's easiest to see in Operation Flashpoint or Max Payne. Set the game to a 1600*1200 resolution and then move the mouse. In OFP it's easy to see in the menu, while you need to be in the game in Max Payne. My logic says that it should happen in all Directx based games, but I see no effect in Emperor: Battle For Dune or MechCommander2.. So far only in 3d shooters?!!? (The effect is VERY visible in Half Life on the Athlon 600 based system *see below*)
I've seen this on more than one configuration, but so far I can see the problem on the following configs:
(My Primary)
A7M266 board with 1,33Ghz T-bird
256MB Kingston PC2100 Ram
Asus V8200 Geforce3 Deluxe (Driver: Nvidia 14.20)
Hercules Game Theater XP
Razer Boomslang 2000 (latest driver)
Win98
Directx8
(My secondary)
Athlon 600 Mhz on Asus A7M board
128MB pc133 ram
Asus V6800 Geforce256 23MB DDR
Sound Blaster Live!
IBM Scrollpoint III mouse
Win98
Directx8
(My brothers)
T-bird 950Mhz on KT133 based Soltek board
256MB sd133 ram
Asus V7700 Geforce2 Pro
Soundblaster Live!
Logitech mouse
Win98
Directx8
So far I have tried several different driverversions for the graphics cards, and I have tried different mice. I have also tried to fiddle around with the graphiccards turning the different features on and off.. Nothing has affected it so far..
Anyone got an idea? Aynone seeing the same effect? And if you do what is your system spec?

P.S. In 800*600 the mouse reacts as sharp as it's possible... It's just kinda annoying to sit with a GF3 card and play games in 800*600..
