strange problem with win2k, need fix

The server {22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

this just happen since oct.12/01
every time i went to desktop say click on my computer, clikc on E: then click on mp3 music or appz, or pic, whatever i click on, it would freeze for like 1 minute. don't have to be double click, just one click would do this too
somebody help me to solve this problem
all the files, appz, pic, are not bad
i can still use adobe PS to open picture, i can still run my mp3 player first then use file open to choose the music i like
i just can't click them on desktop. this freeze even happen in window explore too
forget to mention, it is on win2k pro machine

are you on a network? Maybe your connection to the network is jank and its causing your computer to freeze while its looking for an IP? Just a thought.

i'm on @home for internet
my computer is the server which provide internet to my sister's computer
and it happen when i click on stuff on my hD
say if i go to D: and click on whatever
the window would freeze, i can still do other stuff
and the freeze windows will be unfreeze after one minute or longer

Ok when you say server, you mean the host machine? Are you running crossover cable? router? etc?
This sounds like your computer is trying to grab an IP but it cannot find one so it freezes. Esepcially if that data is shared on the LAN. Can your sister access the files=?

yes my computer is the host machine
and yes, the my sister can access the file
so, do you know how i can fix this
yes use straight thought cable and hub
