This may be a little off-topic for this board, but it's worth a shot...
Win2k3 Functional-Level Domain...XP Workstations...AD Integrated DNS.
I've got a user who randomly loses his connection to network printers on one of our servers (they are listed with an "unable to connect" status). While he is having the problem, his PC can ping the server without a problem, and even browse/open files that are in shared folders on it.
While troubleshooting, I came across this strange occurance (that only happens on his PC...I haven't seen it on other PCs in the domain before)...
If I browse to \\FileAndPrintServer from his PC, I can only see 1 of the shared folders on that server, and none of the printers.
However, If I browse to \\FileAndPrintServer.domain.local or \\[ipaddress], I can see all of the Shared Folders and Printers.
"nslookup FileAndPrintServer" returns the correct IP, so I'm not convinced that this is a DNS issue.
any suggestions?
