Strange problem - any ideas?

Hi folks - got a bit of wierd problem and I kind of wondered if any of you guys could perhaps shed some light on it for me?

Suddenly (and I can't track back to any specific change I made) I don't see anything displayed on my screen between BIOS and boot select and the main full resolution windows screen. For example, if the system needs to run chkdisk, it does, but without anything displayed! How weird is that?

System is a P4 2.4 on an MSI mobo with an ATI (I know, somebody has to buy them - it'll be the last!) graphics card (old 7200 Radeon) and an AOC flat panel. 1Gb memory and loads of hard drive.

Any ideas?? (same happens for the XP system on dual boot - nothing between BIOS and the full res XP loading screen)

Cheers, and thanks, Chris B

No, I'd say it's recognising video 'cos I see the BIOS stuff scroll past, then I get the boot select options. After some while, I then get the regular full resolution windows loading screen and windows runs fine from there on in. I just don't get to see the intermediate stuff - like chkdsk or the fancy XP logo on a black screen with the running line at the bottom.

Wierd or what?

Chris.

Well, for those who may be in a similar position, I've found the answer!

Open up MSCONFIG and go to the boot.ini tab. On there are a series of selectable options on the left - one of them is /NOGUIBOOT. That was selected. De-selecting it and re-booting has restored the stuff I wasn't seeing.

Curious as to how it got changed though - I certainly don't recall making changes to it?

Cheers, Chris.
