Strange PC Behaviour

After changing monitor resolution and trying to restart the dam box(Win 98 SE) starts in safe mode gets error message "failure loading comm.drv" and shuts down. Any ideas to resolve this problem ? 😱:|Typing on kids PC right now. @?!!§&
edit: See sig.
Dang wrong forum I guess. Mods please move.

Rather than chase down comm.drv (it's in Windows\system) why not just do a quickie Win98 install and let it sort out the probs..

I've taken that into consideration but I'd like to know what could have caused this BS. Changing screen resolution causes denial of (OS)service ? WTF ? Reinstall does not seem to be a very elegant solution to this.
THX anyway . Danlz 😀

Astonishingly enough the error message was correct. Restored comm.drv from a working system, Restart, done. 😀
