Its a bunny with a pancake on its head. It just killed a kitten and is smoking a cigarette, which is hard to do in that thin martian atmosphere, which explains why you don't see any smoke.

There's a link there somewhere (had to go a few links in) to the original panoramic shot at NASA. If you look to the right of that object there appear to be two more, albeit smaller and not as oddly shaped.
