Strange NIC problem with XP and RH7.1

I currently have Xp installed to HD1 with RH 7.1 on HD2. Lilo is on the MBR of the 1st drive with Linux as the default OS. Now for the problem- in order to get my Network Card to work I havehave to boot to Linux then from the Graphical log on screen select reboot into the windows partition. If not then XP does not see the NIC
