Strange logon problem

When my laptop is booting up, it stops and there is a logon box with the name of Administrator with a prompt over it stating that there is a problem logging on with this logon name and/or password, pls check (or words to that effect). When I click ok, it goes to the regular screen which gives me the choice between "A" who is an administrator and "P" who is a power user - ("A" and "P" are obviously not the real names I use).

I've been basically ignoring this problem, but now it speeds by the error prompt screen without allowing me to click ok and goes straight to the logon screen. Problem is that it just freezes here and I have to do a hard boot. Most times, going into safe mode and then soft-booting gets me to the error screen so I can click ok and then the logon screen.

I tried adding a user named "Administrator" but I get the msg that there's already a user by this name, but I can't find it in User Groups - there's just the administrator user which I named as "A".

Anybody know what's causing this and how to get rid of it?

That's really strange sounding. Maybe one of your profiles got corrupted somehow?

Have you tried adding another user with a name you have never used? Just like "test" or something. See if that shows up or if that name becomes corrupted as well.
