I just did a clean install of my windows XP
Thread about problems I had
As you can see, I had some problems. Anyway, I am up and running now except for my internet (I am posting this from my wifes laptop). I was able to access the internet more or less before I installed SP2. Here is the order I did things:
Clean XP install
Install Mobo drivers from cd
windows update (including sp2)
Internet flaky from here down
New nforce2 drivers d/l and installed
GPU drivers installed
Basically I restart my machine and get about 5 min worth of internet, then kaput. It still says "connected at 100 Mbps" (I am hooked directly into the wall as a campus connection) but I cannot access the internet. To make matters worse, my old NIC no longer seems to detect when a cable is plugged in, so that is not really an option.
Anyone have any ideas what to do? Is there a way to disable the changes sp2 made to see if that is the problem? thanks
