Strange internet connection problem

Having problems "surfing" using a browser, whether it be Firefox or IE. Pages either don't load or load very slowly. On both of my systems connected to the internet.

However, pinging websites using either the URL (ping www.yahoo.com) or the IP, isn't a problem. Fast consistent responses. Game servers getting low pings.

And now that I get this typed up, everything is now working fine. 😛

run a system scan. Wouldn't hurt to try some new DNS forwarders and see if it gets any better. Maybe clear your browser and local cache. Clean out your temp folders as well. Doesn't sound right, especially if its inconsistent.

If its just network congestion sometimes the provider can switch you to another line from their end. I use dsl and was having that problem last year they checked my line said it shouldn't be that bad. but we could switch and try it and the congestion cleared right up. Was just running on a crowded line.

Yep! DSL can do that, but cable is always shared.

Thanks, but that really doesn't seem to explain the situation though. Like I said, pings were fine. It was only problematic when using a browser.
 
Pings don't really use much bandwidth. Browsers vary - depending on where you browse. Have you tried a different browser?
