Strange IDE problem with Epox 8KHA+

Here's a strange problem I had with my 8KHA+. I have the following:
8KHA+, Athlon 1800+, SCSI U160 boot drive, 2 60GB ATA133 drives in Win2K software RAID.
I was having video/audio capture sync problems so I ran Sandra 2001 bench and got 14K.
I plugged in a Highpoint Rocket133SB IDE controller, moved the IDE cable from the mobo to the card, booted, went in to the mangement console and reactivated the stripset, reran the bechmark and got 29K!
Looks like the software RAID was not even working with the onboard controller.

I don't think I should ignore it. It might indicate a problem with the Via drivers.

I am having problems with my onboard raid for msi kt3 ultra board also.
Everytime the system accesses the array, the video lags, ie in 3dmark, and MoHAA.
I am considering yanking a drive and running standard.

Well, my $25 solution seems to work just fine. I have read that software RAID in Win2K is just as good as hardware anyway. Still don't know what the problem was with the onboard controller though.
