Quite similar to that error.
Scenario:
I'm taking pics of my rig, placed the pc against a desk, probably 30 degree angle, running. For some reason I dont like the angle it's running at so I shut it down, take more pics.
Stand unit up, go to boot up and I get that error. Reboot just in case something is funky for a minute, same error.
Google the error, it's a registry error supposedly. Slap in the winXP cd to do a repair, same error. Wont boot from cd at all.
So I try a knoppix live cd just for kicks to see if I can get anything at all and cant boot the live cd either.
I have never heard of a live CD not booting, since there shouldnt be anything being written to the hard disk.
Say a couple of swear words, grab a spare HD that I had laying around, slap it in, load windows and all is well.
Hook up previous HD again after install on the spare HD, same error, no boot.
Anyone ever seen this kind of problem before? I'm stumped.
Can we narrow it down to a hard disk issue like bad sectors or something?
