Strange Floppy Problem

When inserting my SamsungMonitor installation diskette I receive the following error message:
"The disk in drive A: is not formatted" and asks if I want to format it now.

The diskette is formatted and works in my other three PC's and any other diskettes I have tried in the offending machine work also. All four machines have Win98se installed. I thought about the possibility of a strange motherbord issue but one of the other pc's is identical to it. Has anyone seen this problem before or have any suggestions.

I would check the cable connections at the floppy and mobo and if that didn't work, try swaping one floppy drive and cable from one machine to the other.

Replaced the drive and cable still no go on this diskette. I compared the BIOS setting against its sister pc and all looks good. I did notice one other little quirk. On the trouble pc if I try to boot from the diskette it will ignore the diskette and boot to Win98 on its sister (good) and a third pc when booting with the diskette in the A: drive I receive this error "NTLRD not found". I thought this was a WinNT file and all the pc's have the same win98se version.

SamsungMonitor installation diskette?! 🙂

Both my friend and I get the same "The disk in drive A: is not formatted" me error message too. So don't worry about it, you don't really need it anyways.😉

Just a thought, but do you have the floppy capacity set properly in the bios. I just installed what I thought was a 1.4mb drive, while it was actually 720k. Wouldn't work at all till I changed the bios.
