Strange error installing Windows XP

I have a laptop I'm formatting for a friend. It doesnt have a cd-rom. I partitioned & formatted the drive to fat32 and installed network drivers so when I boot up from the hard drive I have network access.

I then copied the \i386 folder to the notebook and ran winnt.exe to start setup. It gets right past the copying files section then gives me this error: 0x4,0,0,0 with some more text and just tells me to shutdown.

I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find a fix for this.

Thanks a lot

JB

Check the vendors site for updates to BIOS and other hardware (firmware). There may be a device that is not compatable with the OS. Then give it another try. Not all systems are able to run XP.
