If an ipod doesn't show music anymore suddenly but still says it is using 20 GB of space, what should I do to recover it?
Unfortunately the music isn't on the computer anymore either!

Is the iPod still under warranty? Are you on a Mac or a PC (that determines the software to use to try and pull the music off the device).

Was the music purchased through iTunes? You can redownload it from the iTunes Store.

THIEF! PIRATE!! Sorry, had a touch of the RIAA tourettes.

You can try this out, see if it works for you. I have never tried it before, so I don't know if it works.

You didn't get it anywhere that would let you download it again? Crummy. Use iTunes or Amazon in the future, both are DRM free and allow you to redownload.

There was a way to have the iPod rebuild its built in library, might try googling for that... not sure otherwise though.
