Strange corruption error?

I'm a total newbie to the CPU overclocking, but thought I'd give it a go anyway. Was shooting for a very conservative OC, just 100mhz over the 2400mhz stock on the chip. Anyway... anytime I attempt to reboot after making the appropriate changes in bios, I get an error telling me that windows/system is corrupt, press r to repair. Well, I simply press escape and it attempts again until I go into bios and set back up to default settings. Does the same thing when attempting to use Asus' AI NOS or AI Overclock features. I had Hypertransport set to 4x, CPU multi is default 12x, Vcore at default 1.39v, PCIe at 100mhz, HTT at 210, memory at ddr400 2,3,3,6 1T. Any ideas?

i dont know much about your board but i think you are using unlocked SATA ports, and as such the SATA bus is getting clocked to high and resulting in corrupt data on the HDD, what ports are you using (what port number), because someone in the know will be able to tell you if this is correct or not ;)

Not entirely sure how I'd go about determining which SATA port the drive is running from.

Did alittle more tweaking of the bios, and found that by setting DDR config to AUTO allowed the machine to boot to windows startup... however, it reboots after the windows splash screen. Setting to auto changed the memory timings from 2.5, 3, 3, 6, 1t to 2.5, 3, 3, 8, 2t.

Hrmph.

Yeah, that definately sounds like the sata bus is being overclocked too. I'm going to assume that you have 4 sata ports, in two different blocks of two ports. If thats right, try plugging your drive into one of the ports in the other block of ports. If that isnt' right, just try plugging it into the other ports and see if any of those work for you.

Ok, I see I've got the HDD plugged into SATA1... I can just power down, switch to SATA 3/4 and power back up? Will this require some installation or configuration in BIOS? Should I expect to lose data, etc?

Dumb question I know, just like to be 100% before making a move.
