Strange behaviour in windows 2000

Since 2 days or so, my cd-drives suddenly stopped working.
When I boot into windows they work just fine, but then they disconnect themselves.

The problem started 1 day after I installed the latest drives from nvidia.
I've got no viruses on my computer (Norton didn't find one) and a firewall protecting it.

I'm running windows 2000 professional with the latest updates and servicepacks.

what kind of motherboard do you use, and what kind of ide controller if it is not integrated. I had the same problem until I reinstalled the 4in1s, after I installed a bad driver.

Sounds like your IDE controller or drive gave up the ghost.

tomrizzo seems to be on the right track.

Try reinstalling the IDE drivers, and uninstalling anything that might wedge these drivers (ZIP drivers perhaps?)
