Strange audio issues..

I can't explain it any better than that.

See this youtube video: http://youtu.be/LakdnS9fF6c[1]

I disabled and unplugged front panel audio, updated drivers, uninstalled drivers, uninstalled the sound card (integrated). Ran driver sweeper and re-installed everything. I did update my BIOS this morning, could that have been a factor?

now when i installed the realtek drivers again and enabled front panel audio in the bios it will say theres a device plugged in but play no music. The rear panel audio jacks are grayed out as well looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/53wslRf.jpg

Even with the front panel unplugged, my computer will think its got something played in and the equalizer will show stuff is playing.

Mobo is an Asrock Extreme 4 gen 3, socket 1155, using on board audio

Be sure default output device is set properly, also if youre unplugging the front port audio be sure to replace the jumpers as they once were (assuming there were some before) i had a simular problem with no sound output on a socket 939 motherboard. Put he caps back on and it worked, check your motherboard manual to make sure theyre not required or where they should be

I wish I could read your playback screen better (not your fault, you did good with the video), but it looks like the 'digital output' and 'speakers' are fighting with each other. Can you tell me which digital output that is right under the speakers in the the first video?

Do you have digital output on anything other than the onboard sound (for example, my video card has HDMI ports that show on this screen)?

Yeah, the digital and speakers are fighting for control.

I have digital output on the sound card, and the video card has an HDMI port (shown on the video, but shows as nothing plugged in.

Still no luck with it tonight after using 3rd party drivers. No pin setting for the front panel audio though. All of the plugs in the back look OK.

output device is set up properly, but for some reason it won't recognize my rear panel ports (they are greyed out). I don't know why? Drivers are up to date, it worked 2 weeks ago before i shipped it to my new house and now it doesn't work.

Windows shows there is volume going to the front panel, even when the jumpers are unplugged. When the jumpers are plugged in, and a head set plugged in, there is no sound. Realtek recognizes when you remove the headset even, it just doesn't play anything.

edit: All I have changed was a wireless card that i installed. I disabled it and still no sound =\

After the bios flash did you go through the bios and re-setup all of your options? If i were to guess the drivers are keeping the rear jacks greyed out because they are assuming one of your hdmi jacks is handling the audio. Look for settings in the southbridge section of the bios(depending on how the bios is labled) and make sure the audio is set to on rather than auto or off.

I just double and triple checked the bios settings, everything is set to how it should be

🙁 i'm depressed. 12 beers in two nights and no solutions...

Is yours the Z68 board? If so, what happens if you go into the BIOS and disable the 'Onboard HDMI Audio' feature?

did you go in device advanced setting.

yes, everything is set how it should be set. I've tried every combination of settings in both the realtek manager, windows, and the bios. I am going to try a new sound card

disabling it didn't work, same shit as before =\ i even disabled the HDMI on the video card with no success.

it just doesn't make sense why it registers when i plug and unplug the headphones to the front port, but yet greys out the rear ports like they don't exist and refuses to play on the front ports.

edit: It might have been a BIOS update that fucked with everything, but I didn't save my old BIOS config. =\
