Strange 7800 Issue

When I installed my new 7800 GS AGP for the first time, everything posted but when windows started to load, I got a "no signal" message on my monitor. The same thing happens when I try to go into safe mode. I put an old FX 5200 in and everything is OK.

I checked the molex connector to the 7800 and it was secure. Before I installed the 7800, I uninstalled the Forceware dirvers.
Any ideas on possible fixes are welcome before I RMA the card.
Thanks.

Yes, it's a Viewsonic VP 912b 19" LCD. One thing I forgot to mention, I don't have the monitor drivers installed. Should that make a difference ?

Thanks,

I don't suppose safe mode makes any difference?

What about BIOS settings? Can you disable 1 WS Read/Write and lower AGP mode to 4x?

If needed, see the following guide for explanations of BIOS settings:

EDIT 1: Google search seems to turn up a lot of hits for "A7N8X 7800 no signal" (without the quotes). Might want to check these out.
