Seems to have boiled down to whether a city permit for the parade in question had or would be issued. As we see in the debate over illegal immigration whether the government provides "permission" for something to happen has little bearing on whether it happens or not.

FWIW, the parades now often encompass trans people too. IIRC you're pretty much fine with gays, but very much not fine with trans people, so we continue to need to have parades saying that just because you're a shit person we're not going to be ashamed of ourselves.
