It pisses me off in Star Wars when Obe wan says (paraphrased) "It was the stormtroopers that pwned the Jawas cos of the accurate blaster fire". Then for the duration of the film, the stormtroopers can't hit the side of a barn. GG!

I still LOL at Executive Decision when Steven Seagal gets taken out in the first 10 minutes. KTHXBAI!

I liked Equilibrium. That clip didn't even show the coolest scene - the one where he pops up in the middle of 6-7 guards and beats them to death with the butt of his pistol. That was cool.

~1:30 in this clip

Those were "special" stormtroopers using special forces blasters(Likely E11 carbines or DL-21 or T-21) The standard issue E11 rifile can't hit the broad side of a ISD :p

You also have to factor if the troopers were in a prone position deploying a stock they are much more accurate then shooting from the hip while running. And like Luke said "You can't see a thing in them helmets"

In the HD version they need to flash that as a big explanation/disclaimer when Captain Cloak is doing his thing.

But it still pisses me off :p

Actually in that movie the Stormtropper Effect does not really apply. It is not a case of the antagonists being unreasonably ineffective. Instead, the protagonist is simply very, very good, not even in the same class as those he fights. The only time you could argue this was in effect was during the final scenes where he fights ~6 of the best at the same time.

Even then, there is mention made throughout the movie that he is far, far better than anyone else. The key here is "unrealistically." In this setting it is reasonable.

Funny you mention this now...in 24 it's almost the opposite (CTU agents are pussies) when not taking Jack into account.
