Storing an injet and then returning to use?

I have an epson 440, it has been in storage for about 9 months. The conditions were fine, my closet, just a little dusty. I need to make some color prints now, but am wondering if I can just buy new ink carts and fire it back up. Or is there anything else I should do before i turn it back on? Also, what is the best way to store an ink jet?
