Store owner gives would-be robber bread and $40
GARDEN CITY, New York - A New York area convenience store owner confronted by a bat-wielding would-be robber said he decided to show mercy on the man after he collapsed in tears and said he just wanted to support his starving family.

The store owner provided the man with US$40 and a loaf of bread, but only if he promised never to rob again....

The man dropped the bread, picked up the bat and tucked the $40 into his waistband before fleeing, said Suffolk County Police Sgt. John Best....

Sohail said he went to the back of the store to get some milk to give to the man, but when he returned the man had fled. He said he called police and reported the attempted robbery, but doesn't want to press charges if the man is ever caught.

Better than shot the robber in the head, then get a bigger gun to put 5 more slugs into the unconscious perp.
 
There was a similar incident here, exept the store owner actually asked the robber to leave (politely) and he did! LOL. The robber was shocked and told the owner it was the first time this happened and left. Kind of makes you wonder about some robbers. Not that I condone it, but maybe some don't really want to mean harm, they just badly need to support themselves.

Though it does not make stealing or attempt ok, they should get a job like everybody else.

Lol yeah sounds pretty BS to me. Of course the shop owner probably wouldn't have been nearly as sympathetic if he said he needed the money for drugs or whatever. 😛

Always preferable for a situation like this to end without violence, though. :thumbsup:

i'm sure he probably just realized that he was making a huge fucking mistake and decided to get out of there ASAP. i mean...i probably wouldn't stick around and chat with the guy if i had just tried to rob him.
 
I'd have given the guy .40. Twice even, because everyone knows you should always double tap while aiming for center mass.

Then get arrested, spend a hundred grand to buy a good defense attorney, put your house up as collateral on your release bond, be suspended from your job while you await trial, and risk losing everything including your career and your family by facing a stiff jail sentence for murder/manslaughter.

Now that I think about it, $40 and a loaf of bread sounds like a better option.
