Hi there!

Well, first off, was looking for a place to put this thread, couldn't find any forums dedicated to storage/hdds.

Now, currently I'm running two Seagate 300gb hdds, and I'm running out of space. Not only in my storage, but also in my computer. I don't think there's any more room in there, unless I replace one of them...which I don't want to do.

So, it seems like my only option is really an external one. The other thing I'm looking at, is external enclosures, although I'm not quite sure how they work... Could someone explain that quickly please?

Now, I'm looking for something 'big'. Preferably over 500gb, and preferably in the 1tb range, any specific drives I should be looking at?

Thanks

EDIT: Also, should I wait? In other words, how are the prices now compared to what they will be in a couple months...

Buy your enclosure and drive seperately. Keep an eye out for a sale on the Antec MX-1, it sometimes gets to 40.00 after rebates. Watch Hot Deals for a sweet spot 500GB drive. Put the drive in the case, and you're good to go.

Running out of space in your PC, it only has 2 HD bays? matx mobo and mini tower I guess. I've found that usually 500gb hd's give you the most GB's for the least money, meaning 1gb costs like 0.20$. I like the samsung t166 spinpoint 500gb myself, runs quiet and cool and is a good performer as well.
