Stopping Necro Threads

How about the database mark threads older than a certain date as "archived"

IE: threads before June (since we're August) are marked as archived... they cannot be bumped or posted, and the user gets a message stating "this thread has been archived, please post a new thread"

i believe that VB has a function like this.. so why not switch to VB already?

IIRC FuseTalk used to do this. I remember, quite a while back, trying to bump an old thread of mine with a new question, but being unable to do so since it was archived; that is, obviously, no longer the case and I have no idea why or when this changed.

I have to say I don't really mind necro threads though.

Well those are usually bumped every few months.

I think op means when a thread hasn't been bumped for over 2 or 3 years and someone revives it.

The default used to be a 90 day archive. i don't know what changed,

who cares if it's a necro unless the point was to turn it into a neff at which point it's violating a seperate and established rule anyway.
