Stopping just GIF files from loading in Firefox?

Figured i'd ask at least. I just want to block GIF images from loading in firefox. Is there any add on or way to just block that file extension from loading...while still allowing all other graphics to load?

Probably a stupid question, but worth an ask.

I'm using 2.0.0.14 FWIW.

If you want to stop animated gif's:

Type about:config in address bar of Firefox, & change image.animation_mode from normal to none or once.

Thanks to you both.

I went with what akhilles mentioned...and that's exactly what i wanted. I can still see the gif load, but it only plays it once. Perfect.

🙂
