You ever driven a street where the lights were properly timed?
Drivers in such areas quickly learn to go the speed limit and no faster, since going faster means they're going to be stopped at a red light.
I don't see why the same wouldn't work here. And I certainly don't anticipate the gloom and doom results that others are predicting.
Actually I agree with NogginBoink ... I surprised that many people in here think it's such a bad idea ... this seems to take away some of the incentive for people who speed.
For instance, if you go down a stretch of road where the lights are timed ... you'll sorta know that if you don't catch the green at point A, you'll hit reds on the next couple of lights, so you speed up to catch the green at point A. But if you know that if you speed up, the lights will change, there's no point in speeding up to catch the green since this is essentially making it impossible to catch greens by speeding up.
