Here are 2 uTube videos I've come up with.

Manual Approach:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGggEh5o3vg
Like the way he rids Cortana.

App Approach:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C162rumLRlY

I would use them both to check on one another.

That's not saying this is the ultimate answer considering what's going to happen in the future with WinX's (Advertized as MS's last OS) automatic updates.

I've got a WinX ISO but not ready to install it yet until I fully understand what I'm getting into.

Remember if you UpDate you Loose your ability to Migrate the OS to New Hardware whereas a Fresh install allows you this option. It's called System Prep.

From what I have observed Cortana sucks big time. Perhaps not from a user friendly view but a violation of PRIVACY.

Of course I will protect my Win7 Ultimate 64-Bit SP1 OS with a DOS Image access Backup when playing with WinX or committing to it.

What's your Take?

Other then pointing out that there are Manual methods and New Apps to STOP WINX from Spying, where did I imply WinX was horrible; especially, where I said that I haven't booted it yet?

Either you Dudes didn't read my post or my Title was misinforming.

So I Re-Titled it from "WINX Spying!" to "STOP WINX Spying" and suggest you read my post before going off track ;o)

This needs it's own thread. It's an important topic.

Z15CAM::
1. Install Windows 10 in it's own partition or hdd, it can run un-activated for awhile. Gives you a chance to mess around with it. You will need a install key which are available.

2. Windows Update can be disabled altogether if you don't like the automatic updating. This is the worse part of Windows 10 since we loose control of what gets installed.

3. Windows 8.1 will be my last Microsoft OS. Windows 10 and beyond have lost all trust for me.

Gigatons: Don't give up on WINX yet - Watch the uTube Videos links in my 1st post and take note as I feel it's still too early to trust WinX if we can ever secure our Privacy in the future due to it's automatic updates but there may come a method to control what update you want as time goes by.

I haven't booted WINX yet but can see Personal security a Big Issue and not prepared to do so as it's not worth my aggravation until I know some answers.

Right now I really don't want to communicate with anyone who is running WinX as the System is inherently a compromised Privacy risk by MS as stated it in the WinX EULA.DOC.

I have WINX installed on a test machine. I really don't like the whole design of it. The privacy issues just make me like it less. I grew to like Windows 8.1 with classic start menu installed. It feels like a snappier version of Windows 7.

I have W10 Privacy installed on three machines: 7, 8.1 and X.

What's your Take?

You going to use Ghost for this?

As for the rest, the "spying" going on is also on pretty much everything else as well, including win 7, and no, I didn't say that makes it OK.

Again, the only solution here is disconnect from the 'net, and you won't have to worry much, until they come breaking down your door. ;)

If privacy is really a big issue, then, I suggest you install gentoo, and compile everything yourself, checking the source code as well, to make sure nothing is "spying" on you.

I will DOS Boot a 1.32Mb Ghost.exe Corp 8.0 app as a BackUp utility and trust it to over-write any partition or disk over GUI Apps such as Macruim or Acronis for Win, Linux or BSD.

Restoring or changing an OS using DOS Boot GHOST.exe hasn't failed me in over 20 years no matter what OS I'm running.

I'm drunk and should be passed out by now and BackUp's are not the Topic of this thread.

However for your inquiry you require 2 or 3 FAT 32GB 32 GB Partitions and elect to Span Ghost Images of your OS to these Designated Storage Partitions whether it starts with a Dos Boot-able Floppy, CD, DVD, HDD, SSD or Thumb Drive... etc.

I span at 703MB's so in a pinch can write to DOS boot-able CD's. That's OLD School considering we have USB Thumbs today but it does keep track of my compressed BackUp OS Size.

Other members may swear by Macrum or Acronis but using DOS Boot GHOST.EXE I can SYS-Prep Win and other OS's to Migrate OS's successively to new Hardware.
