preaching 'no war' to osama and his gang who are also waging war, instead of in your cozy homes with all the luxuries of a free life here in US.

We didn't start this war but we gonna f*ckin end it.

We can't just turn the other cheek on something like this or we'll start running out of cheeks.

Oh, and all that innocent until proven guilty crap only counts if they are americans. Especially during wartime. Besides, how the hell are we supposed to put a phone tap on Bin. And the way our law system works he'd probably get off because he we didn't get a search warrent or something.

The racist comments should stop. If you're a Christian, you don't want people thinking we're all like Jerry Fallwell do you? Neither do most Islamics want Bin Laden as their role model. America indeed is what it is because most of us can focus on our common goals rather than our differences.

But I do think the anti-war sticker is exactly the wrong message right now. Indescriminate bombing would indeed be both cowardly and beget more violence. But since it appears there will be plenty of evidence to implicate those who fostered and supported the terrorist acts, I don't believe retaliation that is as focused as we can make it will beget any more violence than we would get anyway, and probably less. When we know who to strike, we should strike hard and focus on terrorists as much as possible. Can it be done without civilian casualties? Probably not, but it's a goal anyway...

As for nuking Afghanistan, while that I'm sure is rhetoric that no one in here really means, I dare say for those still alive it wouldn't lower their standard of living much from where it is now.

That post was meant as humor and if you didn't get that then you need to go back too school and learn what the word ?sarcasm? means. And why do you assume you know more about ?history? then me? Do you pass that judgment blindly on everyone that you disagree with? And regarding the post which I didn?t write, how did you get the idea I was racist? There is nothing in there that suggest we should kill all Muslims etc... It makes specifics to Bin Ladden, Afghanistan and other countries or states that quote from the post harbor terrorism and suggest war. If you don?t agree with what I said then address the message and refrain for your personal attacks. .

People are not understanding what we want. We want the only one man O---SAAA--MAAA. If the taliban cared about its people they would hand OO---SAAAA--MAAAAA over to the USA. It obvious that they don't give a rats ass about the people of Afgan. It is the Taliban that needs to be bombed. Keep in mind that there are Afgans that are fighting the Taliban and disapporve of everything that the Taliban stands for.


In my opinion we needs the Afgans(not Taliban) to help us fight this war on the ground and take that rat O-SAAA-MAAA out of his rat hole. Lets not label people. As Bush said why waste a 2 million dollar missle to hit a 2 dollar empty tent, meaning every Taliban member is going to be in there rat holes hiding like the cowards they are.


Just wanted to let everyone know there are two kinds of people in Afgan.... The ruling Taliban and the Afgans which are fighting to regain control of their country.

 
I'm gonna throw my 2 cents onto the fire. SaidMohammed: most of those events you listed occured during the CLINTON administration... thus it's not really gonna be same people doing it. A number have changed. Perhaps there are a few still involved in the process. but I imagine whoever mistakenly bombed the chinese embassy is... not working in the same position anymore? 🙂 Second, about your topic header on cycle of violence... We ARE going to stop cycle of violence... we didn't start it THEY did, and we are DARN sure going to end it.
Israel has lots of problems with suicide bombers... but do they have hijackings on planes? Not really... why? Because they arm thier pilots and have armed guards aboard planes who are not hesitant to KILL and save hundreds, or even thousands of lives. In France (you can look this up) a plane was hijacked not too long ago, I think within the last year or 2. They convinced the hijackers to land cause they said they were going to negotiate. What did they do? Pop! Sniper rounds through the head when they had a good shot. Problem taken care of. I think terrorists won't be hijacking in France very much any more.
We have a choice... we can do nothing (which we were doing before, and they still attacked us) and let this problem grow huge... or we can do something and take care of it NOW. Sure, we might create more matrys, BUT, if we go after the funding sources, they won't be able to get funding to do this. This was a multi-million dollar terrorist operation. Some rumors (unverified story on CNN) even say that Osama sold market short to benifit from the mayhem. That's pretty sick. Actually, assasination of this guy and a few of the people who funded him would probably take care of some of the problem, but I doubt it would take care of it all.

We need to strike not only to take out the people who did this, but to act as a deterrence against OTHERS who would think about the same thing. Just a couple thoughts, feel free to respond and perhaps we can discuss this without calling names 🙂

Forget about religion, reasons, rationale, history, etc. The strike against the USA was unforgivable, regardless of the "reason." We will trust our leaders to take appropriate action.

That said, you should understand that promoting peace now, is not what is needed to in fact, acheive that end. Your post is inflammatory. Excuse us, but most of us here need to grieve, be angry, and vent. It doesn't mean we want to kill innocents, just some time to work things out.

If you really want peace you wouldn't have made that post.

Next time, before you open your mouth, stop and THINK.

 
far as I know, a nice little war now & then is usually good for the economy

besides, gotta do something with all that ordinance a'fore it expires 😉

The most fanatical of the terrorists died in the attacks. Maybe they'd value their lives more and not suicide bomb if we didn't support monarchies in the region (just because we love oil) that oppress them in ways we can't even imagine, especially women. I'm not validating, legitmizing, condoning, or anything else these horrible attacks--but if those attacks were cowardly, the pathetic posturing on these boards is even more so. Yeah, cruise missiling innocent civilians to death is WAY more courageous, and ya know what, that's what's going to happen.

We support monarchies in that region that oppress women? Would you care to name a few? How are these countries any different from our enemies that also oppress women? Have you ever thought that this might be due to their culture?

Uh richleader, and you're saying the Taliban is really big on human rights? Don't they stone women if they leave their homes w/o a male accompanying them? Aren't they also the ones that are currently trying aid workers for spreading christianity? Get a clue, As far as I can tell and I may be wrong, but the "monarchies" that the US supports are the least extreme of the bunch.

One thing not mentioned:

Usama Bin Laden, above all else, hates the US presence in the Middle East and especially in Saudi Arabia (this stuff about "haters of freedom", though some may hate it, is more PR than the real root). He wants and all out war. That would turn the Muslim world 100% against us and likely get us thrown out of the Middle East. I want to nuke our enemies too, but Bush is smarter than that. He's going to build coalitions and, yes, make deals with the devil. Then he'll strike hard on targets that the coalition is with him on, and use covert ops on the rest.

True Islam, as all major monotheistic religions, teaches peace. These radicals that attacked us are no more representative of true Islam than those who carried out the crusades are of true Christianity. If Bush can get that message out, he may be able to destroy the terrorist organizations without destroying our relationship with the Middle East.

BTW, CyberDolphin, not flaming or anything - but God (re)created a very peaceful Earth that man brought violence into through the introduction of sin. But you point about violence is correct in our fallen state. I mean look at the old testament! God ordered complete annihilation of some of Israel's enemies... including the babies!

This is a battle of good and evil, The rebel alliance versus the empire. You Pencil necks probably would have offered Hitler a sensitivity course for exterminating 8 million people.

There is a thin line between extreme Islam and the loving Islam, and many moderates, who seem to side with the extreme.

These people must know that the USA is the ultimate superpower . And only by the grace of Allah we don't expand our empire, take the petroleum and make these sand people our slaves.

It is the history of the world...Conquest. I hope the goverment and people realize soon. It is a war we did not start but can end..... very easily.



 
I'm surprised there haven't been more calls for this thread to be locked. It wasn't an especially hot deal to begin with but the last 4 pages of posts have nothing to do with Hot Deals. While the debate may be interesting (and definitely spirited--maybe a little too spirited), I don't think we should forget the basic rules of this forum. This is now an OT thread. Where are the mods?

If we're going to win the war against terrorism, I say let's stop pulling our punches and hit them HARD.

- We refuse to assassinate leaders of other countries.
- We refuse to use face detection, carnivore, echelon, retina scan technology because it's invasion of privacy.
- We won't use mines because they stay buried for years and kill children and animals.
- We wont use depleted uranium shells (bullets) because they might give the enemy cancer.

Do you see Osama pulling any punches? Given the chance, he and any of his followers would kill you, your family, and your entire city block in a heartbeat.

I say nuke the bastards and ask questions later. Forget "sending messages"...
