Okay, I think i fixed the soundcard problem....but now I think i have another.
Imoved the scard to another pci slot. The computer posted and then I saw the scsi config screen, the detecting devices. This is the first time i've seen it. But now it won't load windows. As soon as the bios prints out the list of devices and irqs and junk it just sits there. I tried moving all the cards around, it would either boot into windows but crash, or not boot at all. So now i took out the scsi card, and the soundcard works great, haven't crashed at all. But I would kind of like the scsi card to work too_Okay,

Haha, I knew it was that Tekram card. I'm sorry you are having this problem, but I just find it amusing that without it being mentioned in your original post that's what it turned out to be. In other threads people keep telling me that Tekram card is better than an Adaptec. It isn't, IMO. I have had nothing but problems with that Tekram SCSI card no matter how much people in this forum have said it is just as good as an Adaptec (I wish it was, because I bought one hoping it was.

That Tekram card is really picky about its resources. You can try assigning IRQs to specific slots in your BIOS, but that hasn't helped for me. You will just have to keep moving cards around until it is happy. Either that or return that Tekram card if you can and pay the extra money for an Adaptec card.

Heh, that is rather funny because my brother had bought this card, it didn't work in his system, it wouldn't post for some reason. So he bought the adaptec card and gave this to me. I Guess I have my work cut out for me trying to make it happy. Thanks for the help.

I did eventually get it to work in both systems. It just took me a few hours. When I benchmarked it, it performed much worse than the Adaptec 39160.

Tekram DC390U3W vs. Adaptec 39160

In the future I don't think a few hours of time and worse performance is worth the money saved. But if your bro bought it and gave it to you, I don't think returning it is an option. I'm not sure why I kept mine, I guess I was stuborn enough to get it to work and then I just didn't feel like coughing up the extra cash for another Adaptec in a system that I don't entirely care about the performance of.
