I have Outlook express setup at home to download my messages automatically, like every 5 minutes. The only problem is...when I am away f rom home, I cannot check my webmail, because they have already been downloaded from the server to my home PC.

I think Eudora has a setting to "Leave messages on server when downloading". Eudora sucks though, except for that option. Can it be done in Outlook Express?

Thanks!

go to Tools -> Options

here you can deselect Send and receive messages at startup

and/or

check for new messages every __ minutes

hope this helps!

No, I want it to get them, but I want the messages to also STAY on their own server. Like, say I have a Hotmail account. If I log into Hotmail.com and check my mail, nothing is there because Outlook already downloaded them.

On Eudora, the messages can be in Eudora AND on their server both. So If I go hoem and check my Eudora, it is there, and if I check Hotmail.com, they are there.

Thanks though!

Yes it can be done.

Go to Tools > Accounts > Click the "mail" tab > select your account > click properties button > select advanced tab > check leave a copy of messages on server.

Be careful though if your ISP has a mail size quota set up for you because if you exceed it mail will be bounced. There are two options underneth that setting that may help you prevent that from happening.

These steps only work for Outlook Express 5 and 6. You can do it in 4 also but there are different steps because it doesn't support multiple accounts (i think).

edit: typo
