Stop error question!

Recently one of my pcs has been giving me fits with various stop errors, the latest of which is
pfn_list_corrupt. I have tried new ram, new hd, etc. but to no avail. I've run Memtest and it has come up with no errors. I"ve tried to reinstall Win XP Pro more times than I can count!
Is it possible that one of the RAM slots has gone bad but Memtest doesn't pick it up?
The only other thing I can think of replacing is the motherboard and/or CPU.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Gary

This happens right after you install XP but before you install any third-party drivers or software?

Intemittent. This has been ongoing for a few weeks. I did complete a successful install approx. 2 weeks ago but the system continued to randomly reboot (in addition to the stop errors). So yesterday, in addition to everything I've done, I bought a new hd but now the "new" error is the one listed above. This one occurred just as the installation was completing.

I hate to say this, but......

Google has plenty of hits for your error, even one from MS

Have you tried that route ???

Sure have. Nothing has helped and I have already tried the suggestions. I've just installed a new ps and I'm hoping that might be the problem.
