Stop error, dumping physical memory = hardware problem?

I've been constantly getting these stop errors in Win2k for so long, I think I might cry.

I have yet to write down the error code, but when I get the error again (soon, without a doubt) I will post it if necessary.

Basically, out of nowhere, my computer starts moving slowwwer and my mouse gets sluggish and then it BSODs on me.

It says it's beginning to dump physical memory, on the Microsoft site it says it should be tallying up to 100%, but no numbers are on the screen at all, I could leave it there all day and nothing would change.

My question is, is this a hardware problem? If so, what can I do/buy to fix it? Or is this some kind of software shindig up in my hizzy?

Specs:
AMD 1.2 ghz T-bird
256mb DDR PC2100 (i think) no-name RAM
IBM 40gb 60gxp
GF2 mx400
A monkey

I appreciate any and all help 🙂

It sounds like there might be a problem with your memory. I would suggest downloading MemTest86 and running it to see if your memory truly is the problem. You should get 0 errors if all is well.

most likely hardware...

especially if the physical memory dump doesn't finish.
had the same problem once on a cracked mobo ( cracked = as in the pcb are slightly cracked )

Just so this doesn't happen again, would me not shutting my computer down for a month have anything to do with it? I was going for record uptime...

NO...A stable system should run indefinitely....I have had my pc overclocked and on for 2 months straight...the only time it goes off if I am adding something hardware or sotfware wise...
