All of the dorms are on one t3 (I think). The rest of the computers (labs, faculty, staff, etc) are on the other lines.Originally posted by: BornStar18
I remember reading his letter and being absolutely floored by the stupidity. His biggest complaint shouldn't be about the LAN, he should be more worried about adding another T3 or starting to upgrade to OC-3s (which I think has been a long time in coming). The university has no need for GbE; even the most complex of networked computer games will run easily on 10Mb. I'm sure the next day he went out and complained about all of the extra spending that is raising his tuition.
That's sad.. we have a 110Mbps frac oc3 at ISU, and I'd imagine Purdue is much much bigger.
One T3 (or OC3) is about 45Mbps

Maximum housing cost at Purdue is $7,620 for the year. Therefore, you pay roughly $847 per month and that includes all utilities, housing close to campus, and 20 meals per week. This, of course, is for the nicest on campus housing. Housing can be had as low as $4,786 for on campus.

That is DAMN expensive compared to my university. I pay about 3100 a year for housing + electric. No food, but I live on Campus, and in a campus apartment. The dorms are even cheaper. Meal plans are only 900$ a semester too, so, for 4.9k, you can live very nicely. I chose not to eat campus food, and buy doing my own shopping, I run up a bill of about 80$ a month in groceries, and that is eating extravagantly. So for under 4k a year, I live very well. T1 internet provided, but I pay for my own cable line.

What about trash removal, water, television, phone, etc?
