I can't tell you how angry and disappointed that none of my Xbox One and PS4 come with a game manual. There is a manual holder but no manual. Are we suppose to make our own manual?

These companies nowadays are complete dirtbag. For those that argue we live in a digital age now so no need for a manual..... this thread isn't for you. You are getting rip off whether you care about manuals or trees and that is a fact.

Price of games have increase from 50 to 60 dollars and yet we get less in each physical copy than ever.

Wah wah wah. Games were 50 bucks in the 80s.thats like 1000 today. Games are much better. Stop whining and read the manual in pdf format.

OP. This isn't new...and well, since the games usually have 3 hours of in game tutorials making up their 6 hours of play...not sure it matters.

A diagram showing the key functions should be included with every physical disc sold.

many games have built in tutorials which make manuals useless. some games even have digital manuals (at least on ps4).

i mean take for example, street fighter back in the day had a manual and the majority of the manual was a moves list. now a days the games have built in moves lists in the pause menu, so kind of makes the manuals pointless.

same with the parts of the manuals that tell you what buttons do what - they have that in the options in button configurations.

you're simply delusional if you think games now a days cost $10 more and have the same amount of content as they did back in the 80's.

I always hated reading manuals. I only did so when I absolutely had to. What's great with with modern game design is for most games you can jump right in and get taught how to play while you play. I much prefer that type of experience versus assuming you read a manual before you play.

I don't know about you, but I'm paying for the game, not the manual. If I didn't think a game was worth $60 to play through, I'm not going to be swayed to think it is a better deal if I know there's a manual in the case. My basis for feeling if I got ripped off or not is whether I end up loving or hating a game for the game itself. :/

But what if it was only worth say $55 and came with a cloth map?

Buy a strategy guide and stop whining. Games don't have manuals anymore because they all have interactive tutorials which are much better.

They cost that much because the catridges cost $15 to manufacture, whereas it costs like 2 cents to make a DVD. And there was no set MSRP like today, a lot of games were around $35 back then.

However, development costs are up. People expect a rich experience with voice acting for dialog, a cinematic music score, and graphics to match. That doesn't come cheap.

As for manuals, there is often a button layout in the options that tells you the commands and you don't need the prologue written out on a slip of paper.

Almost every game I've played recently have the button layouts, instructions and a tutorial built into the game. Don't have a need for an outdated manual. Not sure what else you want out of a manual.

Game manuals are useless. In-game controller references and the internet have rendered them obsolete, and I don't miss them. I encourage companies to save money by not printing a full color booklet that 0.001% of people will even look at.

It's been a long time since we've needed manuals. It used to be nice because that was the only way to see all the controls, but now those are in game.

Quit bitching

And how many of those have you seen lately?

Uh. Quite a few. Look into any of the dozen plus DCS or IL-2 games, modules, and expansions that have come out in the last few years.
Just because they're not thrown in your face on IGN or discussed daily in AT doesn't mean they aren't there.🙄
