I'm just saying, m ost people refer to the proper flu name (which I forget, it looks like H1N1) as Stomac Flu. The same way people refer to H1N1 as Swine flu. Swine flu is not really the proper term either but it's accepted.
But any way you look at it, "stomac" isn't the accepted spelling. 😛

It could also be food poisoning as that has the same symptoms. In any case, I feel for you... I've had that a few times in my life and it's hell for about 12-18 hours.

If your stool won't harden, you could try taking something like Imodium.

Besides that, drink lots of fluids, as everyone else said.

Last time I had a gastro it was hell for 3 days or so. My ass was so sore D:

Thanks for all the advice guys. I must say that I am feeling MUCH better than I did this morning and during the day. I still have diarrhea but I am not throwing up anymore. I went to the pharmacy and got myself some pepto, 3 vita-water's with potassium, and some magnesium/potasium pills.

My mom's cooking me chicken soup with rice and carrots...

I weighed myself just 5 minutes ago and since the morning I've lost 10 pounds. Not a bad diet 🙂

10 lbs. loss is better than a gallon of liquid, you better drink up bud.

As others said there's no such thing as the "stomach flue" it's just a nick name for a number of other conditions and there's nothing a doctor can do. Just tough it out. Lie in bed wrap yourself with layers and lawyers of sheets and sweat it out, keep a comit bucket near by. Drink something like Gatorade to replace electrolytes lost from the vomit and diarrhoea. Stay hydrated! When you can eat start with soups or something similarly mild and easy on the stomach.

I'm telling you. Eat Bananas, rice applesauce and toast and it will REALLY help, it's amazing. You don't only have to eat this, just snack on them if you're hungry in addition to other things. If you're projectile pooping/spraying water it helps as well and prevents you from pooping out all your fluids avoiding dehydration. Other foods your body will just pass quickly, but with these goodies your body will want to hold onto it, because it works.

just got over the flu myself, 105 fever for two days.. the contant running nose is the annoying part, fever and vommating i can deal with

yes. i'm all better now, thanks for asking 🙂

The two times I've had gastroenteritis it was absolute hell for about 24 hours. After that it wasn't too bad but it took another day and a half to fully get over it.

Odd thing was it started with just feeling a little nauseous. I threw up and felt 100% better. 30 minutes later, a little nausea, then another vomit session followed by feeling perfectly fine. Repeat about 30 times, getting down to bile and dry-heaving.

I used to get it a couple times a year. I just ate chicken soup, crackers, ginger ale, and popsicles for 4 days until I could handle real food again. Any "normal" food I ate came out of my rear end in liquid form in a matter of an hour or two.

Drink some butter milk, and eat some plain yogurt. It will get the good bacteria in your stomach growing again, and make you feel better once you get past the taste. It really works.

Hey guys,

I'm am feeling MUCH better today and slept for almost 11 hours straight without waking up once. I do have a question though which kind of concerns me, but maybe this is normal.

Before I went to sleep last night, I had a bowel movement with dark green/black stuff, I figure this is bile. Is this normal in stomach flu?

I had something kinda like this in high school. Although I don't think I've ever thrown up when I didn't have a cold or the flu.

The dark green/black stuff may also be associated with Pepto Bismol. Not really a problem; but it also means your bowels aren't settled yet.

You need to get your intestinal bacteria back to normal. This is my favorite way, but there are lots of other such pills. You probably want to avoid concentrated sugar, so a capsule might be better. I couldn't eat plain yogurt if my life depended on it! D:

Also, the BRAT diet sounds like what my doctor put me on. It's slow, but it works.

Thanks for the advice guys 🙂

I'm doing the BRAT thing although I added in tea and chicken soup into the mix. I also got some organic jelly and put a little bit of that on the toast. So far so good. Pretty quick recovery I think considering yesterday I felt as if I was going to die.

You could try charcoal tablets/capsules. They absorb a shitload of toxins, but their primarily a preventative measure. Don't know how much good they'll do now that it's full blown. You can find them at most health food stores.
