What are some of the riskiest stocks you could buy right now? Say stocks that you think might double or go bust in the next month due to some huge event. Anything come to mind?

Go to a penny stock forum and read. HSM would be a place to start.

First of all.
Asking other people for stock trading advice is a major No-No. You need to make your own decisions, there's a lot of people that are bagholders (down on a stock) that will tell you to buy stock XYZ, just so that the price will go up enough for them to cash out.

Go to these sites:

here and here.

Basically, learn how to read chart trends, do some analysis and practice. You can do this even if you have a full time job. You can buy/sell nasdaq stocks after hours.

Study it all for a month, paper trade for a month or two and once you are making profits in your sleep... that's the time you actually invest any real money.

I personally recommend staying away from sites like HSM and investorshub until you follow the above advice. Newbies get suckered in.

Only a minority of people are successful at this, so paper trade for a while, see if you're one of them.

Just my opinion.

Buy Netflix.. They will have the entire rental industry, imo.. Even Apple will have to make a deal with them.

I'm actually not looking for sound investments. I'm a portfolio manager for a failing hedge fund. The 2 and 20 compensation structure massively incentivizes us to take on huge risks to get out of the red. This is because if we fail, we'll lose our AUM and fail regardless of the magnitude of the failure, and if we show gains we get paid a portion of the gains.

I know it's unethical, but don't hate the players, hate the compensation structure.

Lol, I thought you guys would be able to tell what this is for just by the request..

Edit: Obviously for a stupid trading simulation over the next few weeks.. Trading simulations tend to be really risk loving situations because you only win anything if you hit it big.

how does one become a portfolio manager? I'd love to play with other people's money.
anyway, you need to find a biotech company with phase 3 result/FDA approval coming soon. DNDN is one, but I am sure there are others.

One of my business mentors was a portfolio manager or director at one of the more prominent wealth management firms and said being chewed out by your clients on a nearly constant basis is not as fun as it seems.

Don't buy long, buy call options if you want to make a ton of cash on a bet that something is going to go way up.

I wouldn't buy Netflix. 42.62 P/E, I'd say people are banking on them being dominant for some time...

It's good that they realize the dvd by mail business will go away and got ahead on digital distribution, but in time I'm sure several others will offer compelling digital movie streaming services. Google has already begun experimenting with pay to watch on Youtube, and I think one day without warning they'll announce a vastly expanded rental service and NFLX will tank. They will or someone else will. Someone is going to take some pieces of the pie from Netflix. And it won't take nearly as much for Google or even someone else to break into digital streaming as it took Netflix to build up the DVD by mail infrastructure.

Maybe they'll climb a bit short term who knows, but long term it's not a good idea.
