I'm gonna check monday with the city to see if I need one..
Check with your city's regulations about fences.
Just put up some horse fencing: http://www.amazon.com/Keystone-Steel.../dp/B000UGU8K6
That's what I have around our backyard. Then I put a nice wood privacy panels/gates on the two sides of the house facing the road so it looks good from the street.
The way I did it was 4x4 wood posts at the 4 corners of the yard, and then a wood post every 15 feet in between. Then I used metal T-Posts every 6 feet in between the wood posts.
I did 3 sections to surround my backyard (80 foot, 100 foot, and 80 foot). I think the total cost, including the wood panels and gates for the front section, 300' horse fencing, wood posts, and T-Posts was like $1200.
Also, just be a man and get a manual post hole digger. It really isnt that hard. I think I dug 20 post holes in less than 3 hours by hand.
Just did the hole about 1 foot in diameter, put 4 inches of stone in the bottom, put the post in and get it level, then pour in concrete.
If you have any questions on how to install fencing like this let me know.
