Stock Overclocking Question!

I have 3 noob overclocking questions. Stability is a must. Thanks in advance.


What overclocking speed would I likely expect on the below system(Stock cooler)?

What memory speed should I get that would achieve (above) this overclocking speed (533, 667, 800)?

Should the cpu/memory ratio be 1:1 for best performance or does is matter on the C2D?

Depends on how good your chip is...E6600s are notorious for being hit or miss as far as OCing goes...you should first try to find your max OC. Set CPU VCore to 1.5-1.55V and FSB to 350 (Use lowest RAM divider for this-400 or 533 and set RAM Voltage to 2.1-2.2V). IF your comp boots into BIOS, increase FSB gradually (increments of ~10) until you get to a point where your computer won't boot BIOS anymore. This is your MAX reachable FSB speed. After this is reached, reset CMOS, and use a FSB that is about 20% lower while also lowering VCore to about 1.4-1.45V for stock cooler. Find the max you can reach at this new VCore with the lowest possible RAM divider. Then when you reach a satisfactory CPU speed increase RAM speed until it is no longer stable. At this point, either lower RAM speed or increase VDIMM by about .1V and keep trying. Don't break 2.2-2.3V on the RAM Voltage.

CPU/RAM Ratio does not matter too much but you should be able to do 1:1 provided you have DDR2-667 or 800.
