For those of you guys that actually trade stock, amd was reiterated as a "strong buy" again, only last week, we were told to sell.

You own stock based on its valuation and it's product w/performance.

Buying/selling stock on "recommendation" by analysist WILL kill you since one week they'll force it down and you'll sell while the next week they up the stock and you forgot to buy.

Do your own research and don't worry about those idiots!!!!

And try not to bash stocks, they made many arrests on people that post messages and turn the stock south, so be careful!!!

These tech stocks will never hit 0 and shut down because people like us are constantly buying them. If you're really worry, pick a good time to reenter after you sell, don't go against the flow and try to do your research before you do some trade, I hate to see people losing money.

There's a difference between stock bashing and trying to post fake info...

With Apple and Intel making bad announcements, AMD has the perfect opportunity to go for the jugular with the AMD760 chipset (and SMP).

you know the only time you can really bash a stock is when you have dirty stuff on the company.
I used to work for this "so called" internet company. When I realized what was actually going on, a stock scam, I bailed. I contacted my attorney and we did a compelete review of the company tactics. Came up with some very interesting Info. Stuff like the CEO was banned from trading in Canada, etc etc.. anyway point is Press Releases and somebody (analyst or stock promoter) claiming a "Strong Buy" is not teh way to go, always do your own detective work.. before you invest.

SUO:

AMD has actually been downgraded by as many (or more) analysts as have downgraded INTC. In fact, the analyst who correctly predicted this sudden Intel decrease in demand/oversupply situation more than two months ago also downgraded AMD, saying it will be "road kill".

Personally, I wouldn't recommend either one right now. If you wanna buy a chip company, TSMC is the only way to go. And it's real cheap now too ... ;)

Note to all: The reason we're seeing downgrades, then upgrades, is because their prices have fallen so much over a short time. That, coupled with the fund mgrs. already having gotten out and now starting to get back in because the valuations have come down. Looking at the trade numbers (ie. number of buys vs. sells) for these stocks is quite revealing right now ...

As for "scams", the recent Emulex scam was a doosy. Some guy was actually able to post bogus news reports of an earnings warning on the major news services. Stock lost 60% in no time, then recovered when news broke of the hoax. They busted his a$$ as he was stupid enough to have made money trading off of his hoax.
