Will a stock Antec SLK3700AMB case be sufficient to cool a stock AMD XP2500+ machine. I will not be doing any overclocking. It will be used for surfing the net, school work and some gaming. It will not be used for heavy game playing. I plan on eventually putting a good video card in, but for now to keep costs down this MOB seems to have decent video built in for what I'm looking to do. This is my first AMD machine and am concerned about keeping it cool based on the information that I've been reading.

- Shuttle MN31N motherboard
- AMD XP2500+ cpu stock box
- 2 sticks of Kingston PC2700 256MB (KVR333x64c25/256 RAM)
- Antec SLK3700AMB case smart power 350psu with a stock 120mm rear fan

Yes, it'll be fine for cooling. If you really worry about CPU temps, try undervolting the CPU. Reducing the voltage by a little bit cuts down on power consumption a lot.

Newegg is having a sale on the SLK3700AMB for $67.00 shipped. The 120mm exhaust fan is an Antec and is fairly quiet while still providing very good airflow. The PSU is an Antec SL350 with dual fans, too. Between the 120mm fan and the PSU fans, you really don't need to add an intake fan. In my AMD system, I'm running a 2500+ at 3200+ levels using default Vcore with a Thermaltake Silent Boost hs/f and the stock SLK3700AMB configuration gives me temps in the low 40's under load. For this price range, you can't find a better case. :)

Well, to put it bluntly...you've been reading a lot of garbage. Doobie is right...you simply need the single 120mm fan in the back as exhaust. Presto...you're done. You don't need a front intake fan. You don't need a blow hole. You don't need a side fan.

I suggest 7 volting the 120mm fan. It'll be significantly quieter that way and still push about 3x as much air as you'll ever need.

No problem with cool. I'm running the Lanboy with 2-80mm fans and a Barton 2500+ on a Asus A7N8X-Deluxe mobo and temps look very good.

Since the rig is my personal work rig at my work, I don't overclock as stability is more important.

The SLK3700 is one of the best ventilated cases you can buy. As others have said, one fan + the PSU will be plenty.

I cool my SLK3700 (with a P4 3.0C that runs hotter than your 2500+) with one 120mm Panaflo L1A running at only 5 volts.
