I was about to make fun of Canada and their weaker dollar... stupid me.

I would have to negotiate how many of those hot Canadian chicks I'd get to see on an everyday basis though.

What? And have to join a Union? According to this crowd, it'd bring the economy to it's knees.
After all the "I got screwed", "Is this legal", "Can they fire me for this?", don't bother. They don't need your labor.

"I got the black lung pa!"

I hate going under my desk as it is, so underground and all that jazz can ah heck right off. Have they got an opening for doing 2 chicks at the same time instead?

Why go to Canada? Mines here in the US are hireing like crazy. I live in a mining town (open pit) and in the past 3 years they've hired over 2k people. There are a few new mines in AZ that are so short, they are paying top dollar, working you on a commuter schedule, and pay extra per diem of $700/week. Of course, getting housing is tough. All the hotels and motels in my town are filled with miners because there is a housing shortage. Also, dont allways plan on a long career. These mines can shut unexpectently. The mine in my town (Ruth, NV Liberty Pit, owned by Quadra mining) has closed 8 or 10 times since the beginnig of the 20th century. When metal prices/demand are up, times are good, but when they go down, it becomes a semi ghost town.

I'd be interested if it was outdoors, but prolly not underground (somewhat clausterphobic and have NO desire to get squished)

If you got any info, LMK.

It sounds like what they need is more geologists and engineers, not "miners".

It says "and specialized tradespeople". Not many people pick away at rocks with hand tools anymore, they use machines and as few people as possible, so everyone specializes in something.

They might need a retired Die Maker to run a cutter grinder. Hmmm. I know just where they can find one.

Wonder if there are any mines out near Vegas? ;)

EDIT: URL too long, but the link still works.

That's not what your link shows.

What's not what my link shows?

That the Canadian dollar worths more than a US dollar. In case you have it backwards, trading 1 to 1.00250024 is actually an advantage...

yep you're right.

Holy shit...You're in Ruth? ROFL! I worked the AMSELCO mine near Alligator Ridge in 80/81...built the processor plant, leach field and crusher system...
We used to drink in The New Commercial Club in Ruth on weekends...

I had a VERY good friend in Spokane (where I grew up) that lost 3 of his cousins in this one:
http://www.usmra.com/saxsewell/sunshine.htm
I (slightly) knew 2 of them.
Over the years, I've had lots of opportunities to go underground...no fucking thanks...open-pit I can do...that's just moving dirt, but underground is for moles...
(but if you DO work underground...at least you know how to dress every day...no snow, no rain, usually about the same temperature everyday...)

Having grown up and working outside (wasn't allowed inside as I did not have certification) of a coal mine my entire life (in Kentucky)....I would say "fuck no".
