I purchased a MSP5900-U modem?(prime peripherals) and am having trouble using it with windows NT4.0 server. I keep getting the error message about a port or hardware failure. I installed the modem with Windows 98 and was able to connect to my
ISP without a problem.

These were the steps I took with NT Server.:

1) installed RAS
2) specified a modem as the RAS devise which prompted me to install the
drivers which I did.
3) Chose com2 as the port.
4) created a phonebook entry with dialup networking.
5) TCP/IP was already installed.

This is very important so hasty response is greatly appreciated.

Have you checked for updated drivers? Also, are you able to dial out at all when you try, or does it give the error message before the modem opens the line and tries to dial? If it tries to dial, make sure that TCP/IP is bound the modem in the network properties.
